History
Before RP
Days pass by uncounted and each one seems no different from the last. But young little Prince doesn't mind. He is perfectly content with the house-cat life he has, because he has no problems, issues, or worries in life, and his time is spent sleeping the day away, eating, or playing with his sister and mother.
But a life without worries or problems is also a life without progress and meaning, without purpose, and it's not long before something beggings to tug at the young heart. Curiosity sparks and flames like dry leaves being set ablaze. It burns and drives the young Prince to peek outside the curtains, to take a look and see what the word is like outside his window.
It's early spring, and he sees the flowers sprouting up from the ground, leaves springing up on the formerly bare branches of the apple trees in the garden. Most of all, he sees and hears the bird settle outside and sing their heart out. He asks his mother about the strange, feathery creatures with the beautiful voices, and she tells him about each one. The gentle doves sitting down on the branches, the proud crows asserting themselves, the cunning and clever jay sneaking a piece of food from the garden table.
The birds seem to fascinate Prince more than anything else, and so when the opportunity to meet them properly presents itself in the form of a window left open, the scrawny young cat leaps up and managed to get outside. But the birds view him with a distrust he cannot understand, and as he tries to approach them, they flee his words and avoid the paw being stretched out towards them. He follows them, trying to make himself understood and heard, but his efforts seem to be in vain.
So the Prince goes back to his indoor life, but he is no longer satisfied with the simple and mundane routine of it all. He has gotten a taste of the outside and his curiosity keeps driving him more than the longing for safety. Naturally, the plain Kittypet life isn't enough for him, and it doesn't take long before he gets up in the dead of night and slips away into the darkness.
But he is naive, and the very next morning he happens to take the meal of a bigger, toucher cat and doesn't understand the error he has made. But he is quickly taught that as claws painfully slash over his cheek. He flees, running blindly and not understanding this new world he wandered into, but he is in luck, as an older she-cat, Kirei, finds him, and carefully applies some cobwebs on the wounds.
This is unbeknownst to them the begging of a rather close relationship, and both soon became to regard the other as a family member of sorts. Kirei was the only cat Jay - that was what he had renamed himself as the very gendered name of 'Prince' started to the feel of - would talk to without cutting down his sentences into a small set of short words.
In RP
Jay's life seems driven by his curiosity, but Kirei also has a goal of her own; to learn about herbs and the medical ways in which they could be used. Jay soon beggings to follow her in that, and one day when he is out exploring, he comes across a passed-out cat lying in the grass. With great difficulty, he drags the body back to his adoptive mother, and they soon get the sick cat to at least wake up.
Jay is eager to use this opportunity to learn more about plants and their uses as they can test some things on this cat. But something happens, and one day he wakes up without Kirei by his side, and the cat he has begun to see as a new mother seems gone with the wind. He blames humans for this but has to now learn to take care of himself, as well as the sick cat.
A month passes, and after some herb testing, he has to make sure humans take the sick cat as he cannot heal them completely, but the testing still taught him things.
